The Price We Pay
The kind of fuel cells that Fuelcell Energy manufactures can’t really be considered a viable solution for alternative energy. Even when they are set up the best possible way for maximum efficiency they are still much to costly. If you want to make a statement to the world that you care enough about the environment to pay the extra money to use one of these monsters, then you’ll probably go with UTC because they’re huge by themselves, and they are also part of a conglomerate that’s among the biggest in the world, so at least you know that they’ll be around next week to back their product. Now we’re starting to see fuel cells the size of a small toaster that can power an average home, and they are said to be inexpensive to produce.
